Prison term for Doncaster man who assaulted his former partner

David Paul Sowerby appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on October 5 where he admitted assaulting the woman.
A separate charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm was dropped by the prosecution when Sowerby, 39, of Park Way North, Wheatley, Doncaster appeared before the court.

Hide AdSowerby had initially denied the ABH charge and had elected for trial before magistrates when he appeared before the court, earlier on September 17.
But he changed his plea to guilty when the Crown Prosecution Service offered lesser charges.
Sowerby was jailed for a total of four weeks by magistrates when he appeared before the court, records show.
Magistrates also issued a 12-month restraining order, forbidding Sowerby from contacting his victim directly or indirectly, including via social media, or going within 50 yards of her home in the Askern area of the town. He must also pay £100 in compensation.
