Doncaster man is spared prison after assaulting two police officers in the town

Anthony Paul Higgins appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 4, charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, following the incident on September 4 last year.
Higgins, 35, of Mary’s Court, Rutland Street, Doncaster, admitted both offences when he appeared before the court at an earlier hearing on August 4.

Hide AdHe was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, because he had a history of failing to work with the Probation Service when given previous community orders.
Records also state that the offences were aggravated because Higgins had previous convictions of a similar nature.
He must also complete up to 15 rehabilitation activity days with Probation staff over the next year.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £100 in compensation to each officer but wavered prosecution costs and charges.
