Volunteer litter pickers filled a bag with the disposable blue masks in and around Doncaster Royal Infirmary, prompting Doncaster Council to issue a plea on Facebook.
The authority said: “Please dispose of your face masks responsibly.

Hide Ad“Volunteer litter pickers Noelle and Antoinette collected all of these in just one afternoon outside Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
“We all know how important face coverings are in stopping the spread of Coronavirus, but we'll be facing a huge environmental crisis if people don't stop throwing them on the floor!”
It comes after it was revealed that more than half of people who wear disposable face masks to protect against Covid-19 are using them multiple times, while those who opt for reusable coverings are not washing them regularly, the government's top scientific advisers have found.
