Doncaster train station pub is making home deliveries of craft beer

Luke Thompson, aged 26 from Cantley is the general manager of The Draughtsman Alehouse which is located in Doncaster Railway Station.
Due to the coronavirus, the pub which sells a wide range of craft beers has now gone online with a delivery service to bring speciality beers to their customers' homes.

Hide AdLuke said: “We had been planning to expand online before the coronavirus but we were so busy that we hadn’t gotten around to it.
They have been making doorstep deliveries since the beginning of lockdown with strict social distancing guidelines in place.
Some of the craft beers they stock are Abbeydale (Sheffield) Northern Monk (Leeds) Amundsen (Oslo) Lervig (Stavanger) North Brew Co (Leeds).

Hide AdLuke said: “The pub is named after my grandfather who was a Draughtsman in Doncaster, he designed parts of trains.
“We have some of his tools up on the walls in the pub to show his link to the railway.”
Craft beer has become popular over the last few years and Luke saw a gap in the market in Doncaster when he decided to open the pub.
“We wanted to sell beers that you couldn’t just get anywhere, specialised products that have the ethos of quality over quantity,” he said.

Hide Ad“There is no right or wrong when it comes to beer drinking but we stock drinks made by passionate people who really care about the experience of drinking a beer.”
Luke said: “We all know that Covid-19 has had a massive impact on the economy and if people don't support the independents the high street will be a lot more grim.”
They are currently taking orders through their Facebook page here but they are working on a new website that will be launching in the next few weeks.
