Doncaster trailer firm John Hudson snaps up rival for £5m

John Hudson Trailers has bought Tees Valley Trailers, adding 15 employees to take total headcount to 60.The business sells and hires HGV trailers, as well as offering repairs, refurbishments and testing. It is continuing to operate during the coronavirus pandemic but at a reduced rate.
Over the next three years, the firm, based on Doncaster Road, Bawtry, hopes to capitalise on Tees Valley Trailers’ specialist experience in the export market, targeting new territories and investing in fleet management systems and supporting sales team to improve overall efficiency across the business.

Hide AdThe company, which has been operating since 1959, is run by John Hudson’s grandchildren and shareholders John Hudson, Dougal Cawley and Graham Robbins.
John Hudson said: “From our first conversations with Tees Valley Trailers, we could see that their company complemented ours. We really liked their business model and the attitude of the staff, as well as their experience in the export market, something that we’ll be looking to grow over the next few years.”
As part of the acquisition, John Hudson, Dougal Cawley and Graham Robbins have become the shareholders of Tees Valley Trailers, which will continue to operate under its own name.
The company began in 1959 when John Hudson established the company at Branton. It soon moved to the current Bawtry site.
